My name is Courtney Jacobs and dance has been a passion for me since the age of five when I stepped into my very first ballet class. The music and the ballet slippers made me smile.

My entire family jokes that I walked on my toes from the moment I took my first steps. The pivotal moment was when the elementary school nurse called my mother to express concern that I walked on my toes all the time and there might be some kind of issue. My mother brushed it off, but called the pediatrician any way. He was angry at the nurse, but everything was fine. He joked with my mom to keep me in dance. It was at that moment that dance truly became an integral part of my life, woven through every fabric of my being.

• Participated in breast cancer awareness radio show charity dance

• Performed in six mall shows of Nutcracker

• Performed in Nutcracker for seven years

• Participated in work study for dance studio office for three years

• Earned Girl Scouts Silver Award based on a dance and movement project with pre‐school children

• Performed at Newburgh Illuminated, a music and arts festival focused on bringing dance to communities
